We were delighted that Jasmine (Jaz) Morris, Worcester University QTS, not only came through our NQT selection process in March, but was even more enthusiastic to continue with placement planning after the awful news of the earthquakes in Nepal hit us in April.

Jaz, our first female NQT placement, has all the personal qualities and strength of character, as well as extensive experience of working with underprivileged children and those with special educational needs, that will be invaluable as we continue our teacher training programme in the aftermath of the earthquakes.

Thanks and over to you, Jaz! ...
The trustees of Manisha UK

I was first informed about the opportunity to go to Nepal in December by Stephen Pickering, one of my university lecturers. From that point I was set on going, as I've always wanted to work overseas. As the interview process moved forward I only got more excited.

I spent 3 months teaching in Nepal in a small village school prior to starting my degree and have always wanted to go back to carry out more work.

Manisha UK not only is a fantastic charity that does a lot of work in Nepal, but the first thing that attracted me to this specific charity was that the work that Manisha does is progressive and therefore I know that the work carried out is lasting and will have a continual impact, rather than going for 6 months, leaving, and no one doing any follow up work.

Personally, I am looking forward to furthering my experience of working in education, not just teaching, but also working with teachers whilst also adapting my own teaching approaches and mentality to be able to work in cohesion with local Nepali teachers. At the same time I'll have a great opportunity to explore one of the most beautiful countries in the world!
